I'm Kayla, the one behind the camera. I live in rural Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. I'm Momma to a spirited, energy filled little human, and wife to a combination of Bob the Builder and MacGyver. We have two dogs and endless home projects around the house. There's never a dull moment around here.
I began my journey in photography on a whim, when my sister needed a wedding photographer. It wasn't long after that, that I realized I NEEDED to give others what I had...MEMORIES... Memories of nearly half my family are in a cardboard box. In a Hillshire Farms box in fact. I no longer have them on this earth to talk to, or to hug, or to hold. It's what I turn to when I want to see them and what I use to tell stories to my daughter about her grandpa, great uncles, and great grandparents that she'll never have the chance to meet. It's these memories and the true connections between one another that led me to specialize in lifestyle and documentary photography. I want YOU to have those memories to always look back on.
To me, it doesn't matter if everyone is sitting perfectly or looking at the camera and smiling, what matters is that you are being you, your kids are being kids, and that time in your life is captured. There may be tears, I might capture "the look" from mom, or everything may be smooth sailing. No matter how your session goes, the outcome will be photos will tell a story that one day you can look back on and laugh about, cry about and hold onto. You will always have them, and it is one of the most special things you can leave behind.
Thank you so much for getting to know me. I can't wait to meet you!
What are lifestyle sessions?
Lifestyle sessions take place in your home or a nearby park or property. They are laid back and fun. These are the sessions where you get a little dressed up but come prepared to explore, interact and enjoy your session. I provide guidance and evoke the laughs during the session, but the goal is for you to be comfortable and interact as yourselves.
What are family documentary sessions
family documentary sessions take place in your home. I am like a fly on the wall capturing your everyday life. I provide no guidance and document as the session unfolds.
What happens after the session?
After the session, your photos really become works of art as I edit and sort through the fine details that tell your story.
